The Sektor 3.0 Festival is the largest event in Poland promoting the use of new technologies in social activities. It is addressed to representatives of NGOs, business (including start-ups), public administration, science and the media. The theme of this year’s edition is “Empowering Creators”.
Dawid Szarański, Director of the Sektor 3.0 Program: We believe that well-chosen technologies can support creators in developing innovative projects and stimulate their creativity. We will show how to prepare for it during the event. We will tackle, among others topics, the creation of new digital products, the application of artificial intelligence in organizations, the use of the potential of makerspace, and the creative use of robots and drones.
The Festival will be opened by Marek Kamiński, a traveler who conquered both poles. Next, Tom Gilb, an American technological project management expert, will introduce the world of agile organizations, while Andrea Leitch of National Geographic will tell you how to use communication technologies creatively. Seminar and workshop sessions will be led by, among others: Steven Patterson from MIT Media Lab (Recipe for hackathon),Piotr Bralski from Microsoft (First, data!), Jarosław Królewski from Synerise (An organization driven by artificial Intelligence) or Janusz Piechociński (PSL), Ewa Krupa (Orange Foundation) and Jan Zając (Sotrender), who will take part in the panel on How to use Twitter for a good cause.
Visitors will also have at their disposal a trade fair zone where technological innovations will be presented by dozens of exhibitors, including Microsoft, IBM, Google, and National Taipei University. The market zone will feature the “Makerspace” area led by FabLab Orange and Experyment Science Center, as well as the “Emerging Technologies” zone, which will present innovations created by technical universities. These will include the Mars rover, HyperLoop projects, and visualizations of intelligent cities managed by artificial intelligence.
During the Festival, the Polish-American Freedom Foundation “Sektor 3.0” will grant an award of PLN 40,000 to an organization that innovatively uses new technologies in its operations.
Radosław Jasiński, Program Director of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation: Information and communication technologies have a significant impact on both the effectiveness of the organization itself and its ability to achieve goals in a changing world. We want to reward those who are not afraid to experiment. It was for them that this prize was created.
On the second day of the Festival, the participants will take part in 12 specialist workshops prepared by institutions, organizations and companies that are partners of the Festival (including Microsoft, Orange, Google, Agora, Ministry of Digital Affairs, School of Social Psychology, Warsaw School of Economics).
The Festival is part of the Sektor 3.0 Program of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, supporting the use of modern information and communication technologies in social activities. Its main goal is to raise knowledge and skills of the organization’s representatives in the effective use of ICT in everyday work, which serves to increase the reach and effectiveness of their activities. The program is managed by the Information Society Development Foundation, which also organizes the Sektor 3.0 Festival.
